BFIOH: Solange Knowles

Somewhere between her big chop and moving from the shadows of her big sis, Beyonce, to a brownstone in BK, we've really grown to love Solange Knowles.

In fact, "love" isn't quite the right word. Solange gets the title of BFIOH (Best Friend In Our Head) around here. You know, that kindred spirit you haven't actually ever met.

Creepy? Perhaps. But check out her feature, "Brooklyn's Finest," in the September issue of ELLE before you judge.

Now...

See what we mean? It's the kind of casually contrived get-together with friends that sets our Brooklyn-loving hearts aflutter.

From the colorful tribal prints that seem to make an appearance in every room of Solange's Carroll Gardens home (peep the chevron-print rug under the coffee table in slide number 3) to the amazing black-and-white photograph by Malick Sidibé hanging in her dining room.

We couldn't have dreamed up what ELLE writer Julie Vandal calls "a life that is refreshingly distinct from her older sister’s spotlight" more precisely.

Until we actually meet this week's BFIOH, we'll be doing just that -- dreaming about it. (And stalking inspired indie moments like these over at her Damn Blog.)

Tell Us: Who's your BFIOH?
